Campervan Hire in Wales: Compact, Automatic, Built for Two

Bridgend based and ideal for Wales wide camper van and motorhome holidays. The team are super friendly and efficient. Booking and pre trip documentation all handled through an easy to use website with timely follow up and prompt emails. The motorhome we booked was clean comfortable and seemed almost new. Dog friendly as well. Really enjoyed it and would recommend to all.

We had a great experience renting a motorhome for a week whilst touring North Wales. It was our first time touring like this and the flexibility of being able to pull up at a campsite and be ready to go, well stay, within minutes of arriving at our pitch made life really easy. I would have given five stars but did experience some issues receiving responses to some queries I had in advance of our holiday. I used the excellently designed user portal to make these queries but did not receive a reply. When a customer follows the "contact us" process, I would expect a response is provided. Fortunately this did not detract from our overall experience and my query related to whether bedding (sheets, pillows, blankets)) was provided in the van as it was not that clear in my booking detail. It turned out bedding was not provided and we were prepared for this outcome and made a quick trip to the local superstore. The only other issue we experienced was that the vehicle was not supplied with a full fuel tank (only 3/4 full). I took a picture just after collection and returned it with a little more than 3/4 of a tank. The WhyKnott team were happy with this. In summary, I would return again and would recommend this company to others. The website and vehicle fleet overview features were really helpful. The app was also very good but the WhyKnott team really need to check for any customer queries.

Hired this camper for a trip around Scotland to do the NC500, they were clean and well maintained and faultless for the entire trip. The wind out awning on the Fiat was such a great addition expanding our usable space when at the campsite. Chris was a pleasure to deal with to answer any queries I had thought our trip and had us all in stitches with his witty replies. Will not hesitate to hire again with these guys! Thanks for a great trip.

We decided to do badminton horse trials this year with the girls and staying for the full length The motorhome was perfect for the 4 of us and we had soo much fun with all the amenities and comfort Super cheap to run and easy The team ensure we understood how to use all the gadgets and was on the other side of the line for any questions. Will deffo repeat!!

We hired Bella for a weekend in the Cotswold's. First Motorhome experience so a little apprehensive, however all went really well. Ordering with Why Knott was easy via the web, communication was excellent. I picked up Bella and received handover instructions, a lot to take in but well explained. I found the Instruction Manual provided was really useful, basically how to do everything. Bella is very well equipped, drop down beds a great feature. First time driving experience was good, once you get used to the width of the vehicle, its very easy to drive. Overall had a great weekend and would definitely use Why Knott again.

Highly recommend this company. We hired Crystal for 3 weeks to travel around europe. Company so easy to deal with and very friendly. Always respond quickly to any questions.

Booking straightforward, with excellent communication. First timer in a motorhome made at ease at handover with all functions explained really well including simple checklists for parking up and moving on. Initially driving was a little hairy but relaxed into it. Had a fantastic time exploring a small part of Wales which is a beautiful county with lovely friendly people. Had a mix of weather from heatwave sunshine to wet and windy and enjoyed both in the motorhome. Return was straightforward though sat nav decided to take a big detour via the wrong destination! Great company from start to finish, would definitely use again and no hesitation in recommending.

Absolutely amazing! Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Germany & France. May 2025 We hired Luna for our Roadtrip around Europe, and it was one of the best things we'd ever done. Luna didn't disappoint at all, she really is a little beauty of a Motorhome. Mountain roads we a breeze for her, and she had everything and more that we needed for the trip.. Why Knott Hire were amazing to deal with, they were more than accommodating. The dealings with Chris and Kari were thoroughly enjoyable, super friendly and so helpful. We've rented a motorhome from Why Knott for a 10-day round trip through the national parks in Wales. We left our car in Bridgend, where we picked up the motorhome, an ideal starting point. Had a brilliant trip to DisneyLand Paris with the help from Why Knott Hire. Chris and Kari both had great knowledge about all motorhomes and was able to recommend the best motorhome to suit our family, in our case this was Luna. The motorhome was kitted out very well, with all the necessary items to cook whilst away and due to the fixed beds we were able to make these at the beginning of our hire and leave them set up. The motorhome offered us a warm and comfortable base and was very reliable, couldn’t have asked for any more. Would recommend to all friends and family. Thank you ⭐️

What a fantastic experience! The initial online booking process was easy to complete. On hand over K & C were extremely helpful guiding us through the workings of the van, and very patient if we needed reminding! From first sight we fell in love with "Robyn". The unique numberplate KN07 FUN made it easy to spot among the other motor homes, the cream leather interior felt very modern and upmarket. Inside, we had a cooker with fully equipped kitchen utensils, but plenty of room if you prefer to pack your own pans etc. An excellent fridge/ freezer kept our food perfectly cool and two extra cupboards for dry foods and snacks. Four overhead cupboards provided extra storage. The toilet/ sink/ shower is compact but a welcome addition as we were "off grid" for three days! Even emptying the toilet waste is quick and convenient 🙄 Our family consisted of two adults and two teens. The girls loved the bunk beds, even sleeping in them one more night outside the house when we got back. The beds are extra long, so I would recommend using a double fitted sheet as a single may be a squeeze, but it leaves a space at their feet for all their stuff! In the main body, the two long bench sofas with 4 seat belt configuration to suit, made travelling for passengers roomy and comfortable . There is a table in the centre with plenty of room for us to sit around. This table then folds easily, drops down and with only the addition of one short supporting leg and pull out support the other side turns into an extremely comfortable double bed ( futon cushions supplied are stored on the bottom bunk when not in use) . The top double bed is extremely simple to lower into place, the folding ladder stored in the "garage" under the bottom bunk which is accessed via two side doors or by lifting the bunk itself. Every window has a blind for privacy, and the central heating and hot water worked very well. Efficiency: We used the van solely on leisure batteries from 6am Friday morning until 9 pm Monday night (nearly 90 hours) This included about 12 hours of driving too. The Motorhome was light and responsive to drive, with no lag in power averaging 30 mpg over 900 miles with a combination of rural, city and motorway driving. We had more than enough water and waste space for this duration. (we did use public toilets in the daytime). One of our party was in a wheelchair which fitted when collapsed into the main cabin easily and with some maneuvering into the garage compartment or front seat to free up space in the evening/ night. I can't praise this little home from home enough, nor their extremely conscientious owners. Google only offers 5 stars, we give it 10/10. We will be booking again soon! The Houghtons

Easy booking the motor home, beautiful home and well equipped. Everything was set out as per website. As a wheelchair user this was perfect. Easy to drive. Automatic gearbox which made things easier. Parking was awkward at times but we coped. We toured North Wales and Anglesey which was beautiful, but the weather was not however!! Overall a very pleasant experience, one which we will repeat.

We rented Luna for 2 weeks to travel around Scotland. Chris gave us a very detailed tour and explanation on how to use the controls on arrival to collect motorhome and we left confident knowing how to operate all functions. The motor home itself was immaculately clean and very reliable. We had no problems with the motor home and we had the most amazing time clocking up close to 2,000 miles. We had never done anything like this before and we cannot wait to do it again, as we surely will. We will look to rent from Why Knott Hire again as they exceeded all our expectations. The rental is very reasonably priced and it is a 5 star review from me and my wife. Thanks again.

I hired Luna from these guys for a couple of nights and she did not disappoint, firstly, I'd like to say, the owners were great, very friendly and professional, they gave me all the info I needed before setting off, Luna was so smooth to drive and provided me with the comfort I needed to get through the nights, I'd highly recommend hiring from these for all your motor home needs, I certainly will be doing so again, thank you.

Had a great time touring the south of France in a Whyknott motor home, excellent vans and would definitely use again

We hired Luna for a week in June, together with our dogs, to travel the NC500 and had the best time. Having never even been in a motorhome before, let alone considered touring in one, we were really happy we took the plunge! Luna is well maintained and clean, comfortable to travel/live in, and thoughtfully equipped with everything you may need for a hassle free holiday. Secure bike rack is a great addition too! Chris and Kari were on hand to answer any questions and the hire process was easy and uncomplicated. A thorough handover was carried out and all was explained in advance of us being let loose on the roads! Would definately go again and take Luna with us too!

We cannot recommend Why Knott Hire enough! We hired Crystal for a long weekend away near Reading, with a trip to Thorpe Park thrown in. We were a little anxious as our holiday included a large dog and 8 month old baby and we had never stayed in a motorhome before. But with fantastic communication from Kari and Chris we needn’t have worried, they showed us exactly how everything worked and Crystal was an absolutely stunning motorhome. Spotless inside and out and fully kitted out with all the essentials we needed. Really helpful that camp chairs and table came included with the van which enabled us enjoy the outside space under the van awning and gave us extra outside space at the pitch. We took our own high chair and travel cot for our little one, both of which fitted in the alley of the van whilst still being able to access the toilet. A little bit of forward planning before bedtime was needed but we were pleased our little one could sleep in her cot comfortably and safely. We cannot believe how much storage was available, between the ‘garage’ / cupboards which was more than ample for all the extra baby/dog items we took along in addition to usual holiday things. Overall brilliant trip and would definitely recommend, and if you have a little one of your own we hope this review helps. We are already planning to book our next trip! Dan and Lauren

We used Why Knott Hire for a girls trip to Bath. It was very easy to drive and no previous experience of driving a mobile home was needed. We have the usual car licence so took our time but got the hang of it and the size very quickly. We pre-booked the site in Bath which was easy to find and well positioned with good facilities. After sitting out and enjoying the evening it was a luxury to move into a central heated home. Beds for four were already made and there was still room to sit, chat and laugh around the dining area. The fridge / freezer was ample size for our supplies and there was plenty of storage. The mobile home right down to the crockery was excellent so it certainly wasn’t ‘camping’ in any form. Chris and Kari are very supportive so I was reassured if needed they would be available. We didn’t cook but there is a good size oven and hob. You have to leave it clean as you find it so we took care to leave shoes by the door etc. It is a lovely clean, cared for mobile home, well worth the hire. Only wish we had booked for longer. I definitely recommend Why Knott Hire.
