National Botanic Garden of Wales in spring

Spring (March to May) is one of the best times to tour Wales — quieter sites, lower prices and the countryside at its greenest.

What to expect

Daffodils and lambs everywhere, longer days, and far fewer crowds than summer. The weather is changeable, so pack for sunshine and showers in the same day. Many attractions reopen for the season around Easter.

Where to go

The Brecon Beacons and Gower are glorious in spring before the summer rush. Coastal paths are quiet, the waterfalls are full from winter rain, and gardens like the National Botanic Garden are in full bloom.

Good to know

Some smaller campsites only open from Easter onwards, so check ahead. Evenings are still cool — the van’s heating makes spring touring lovely and cosy. Book bank-holiday weekends early, as they’re popular.
