The magical family road trip — 5 days

A motorhome makes Disneyland Paris brilliantly affordable for families — your beds, kitchen and base camp come with you, and a nearby campsite costs a fraction of the on-site hotels. The quickest hop is Dover to Calais (about 90 minutes), though Dover is around four hours from South Wales. This trip needs our European Travel cover (£10 a day), which includes the VE103 paperwork. France requires a Crit'Air low-emission sticker for the Paris zone — order it online in advance.

Day 1: Cross to a Disney-area campsite

Drive to Dover, sail to Calais, then on to a motorhome-friendly campsite near Marne-la-Vallée, east of Paris. Settle in ready for an early park start.

Day 2: Disneyland Park

Day 3: Walt Disney Studios Park

Day 4: A day in Paris

Don't drive the van into the city — take the RER A train from the Disney area straight to central Paris for the Eiffel Tower and a river stroll.
