The two words get used interchangeably, but they describe genuinely different vehicles — and which one suits you depends mostly on where you are going.
Our campervan is purpose built within the structure of a modern panel van, with a luxuriously appointed interior and plush living space. As a conventional van body has been used, it offers greater maneuverability and flexibility with a more compact size which is easier to park and negotiate narrow country roads. Our latest Campervan addition is Jessie, an Auto-Trail Expedition 67 Flex that offers a plush interior, a drop down bed in the rear lounge , option for four berths, a fitted kitchen, bathroom with hot shower and an easy to drive automatic transmission. A lithium leisure battery provides ample power for off grid camping for lighting and 12v appliances. Jessie also has the optional extra of Starlink wifi for internet access.
A motorhome is a luxury coach built vehicle constructed on a modern 3.5 ton chassis. This offers greater comfort and flexibility for family holidays with noticeably more room including separate seating, lounge areas, dinettes, innovative sleeping solutions such as fixed beds, electric drop down beds or overcab beds. They also feature larger luxury bathrooms, fully equipped fitted kitchen with appliances, and ample storage for luggage and equipment. All our motorhomes come with the option of Starlink Satellite wifi.
The choice is entirely personal as they both have great advantages. They all share similar Ford or Fiat engines offering great economy and performance. If you require a vehicle to explore the countryside over short period with narrow lanes or small carparks, the campervan is a great choice. If you require a larger vehicle with more space and comfort, the coachbuilt motorhome is a great base to stay on site for a few days and relax on a good campsite.
Both are under 3,500kg, so a standard UK car licence covers you with no extra entitlement- (although some age related exceptions may apply). Most of our vehicles are easy to drive automatic transmissions and perfect for a relaxing holiday.
